philter is the musical alias of christchurch producer Mark Daniel. Mark has been producing under this moniker since early 2006 upon arrival to christchurch from the swamp armed with only a Korg poly 800 and a Roland drum machine. Since then the arsenal has grown to include the poly800, microkorg, Roland mc505, and Akai mpc2000. Also a guitar and a melodica complete the setup as well as various guest musicians who often turn up to add some Pzazzzz, (usually josh on sax and mel on vox) . Since Mark has no idea how to use Ableton, each set is played live. Straight from these instruments making every set unique. As the years have rolled on the style and music has changed and covers a lot of genres but now rests mostly in dubstep, nu school jungle, dnb and hip hop. All with a smooth blend of electronic and live instruments.
